When it came to choosing Ellie’s bridesmaid dresses, it was (per usual) a full family affair. Mom, sisters, group chats, opinions flying. If you heard our MOH speech, you’d know we wouldn’t have it any other way.
That said, Ellie knew pretty quickly she didn’t want anything super traditional. Instead of one color or one fabric, she went for metallics, shimmer, and warm sunset tones. Think pinks, bronzes, soft oranges… basically anything that would look really good catching the light during a Florida sunset. She also had her “Something Blues” (her personal attendants) wear green to add a little pop of greenery to the look.
The thing with curating a mismatched bridesmaid dress assortment isn’t easy, especially when you have a specific vision in your head. So, we got to work doing what we do best – sourcing fun wedding guest dresses!! And Ellie, pulled together a lookbook of options to choose from. Different brands, styles, fabrics, price points, all linked in one place. The girls could go through, pick what they liked, and send it over for final approval.
One thing Ellie did really well was keep an eye on the overall balance. She didn’t want the group to skew too far in one direction. For example, she loved mixing pleated textures with satins, so as certain styles or colors started filling up, she’d remove similar options from the list. It sounds a little Type A, but it actually made everything come together way better in the end.
The final look felt cohesive without being too matchy. Everyone chose something they felt confident in, but it still looked styled and intentional as a group, which is the goal.
If there’s one takeaway, it’s that giving your bridesmaids flexibility makes a huge difference, but having some structure behind the scenes helps everything land. Whether that’s a shared lookbook, a color palette, or just being clear on the vibe, it makes it easier for everyone and the end result is so much better.
And like we said before, this is just what we’re loving right now. Trends change, opinions change, but at the end of the day you should do whatever feels most like you. And don’t worry about your wedding feeling timeless – they never are!!!
